Perfume and Latex Allergies
For the protection of high risk (sensitive/allergic) patients and staff, please refrain from using perfumes, colognes and/or other perfumed products when entering the hospital. Many people also experience allergic reactions to latex balloons therefore they are not allowed within the hospital. Mylar balloons are acceptable as they are non allergenic.

Security
There is restricted access to the hospital after visiting hours. Other security measures are for the safety of patients, staff and volunteers.
• Staff and volunteers are required to wear nametags.
• If you are unsure or concerned about someone who enters your room or the nursing unit, alert staff immediately.

Smoking
BGH is a smoke free facility. There is no smoking permitted inside the hospital or 9 meters from any hospital entrance. Charles Street Site provides a smoking area for visitors and patients next to the parking lot. Garden Street Site provides a smoking area for patients only in the small parking lot off James St.

Taxis
Charles Street Site - For your convenience, a direct line to a taxi company is located in the Emergency and Central Registration waiting rooms.

Visiting Hours
Daily from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Visitors are permitted at other times, but must check with the health care team. Children age 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Immediate family may visit critically ill patients at any time and other visitors may be allowed at the request of the patient or family check with nursing staff. Visitors who are feeling ill and with fever are asked not to enter the hospital to visit. All visitors are required to use the hand sanitizers when entering and leaving the hospital.
